The Revenue (Stamp Duty) Ordinance 2023 published in the Gazette by the Hong Kong Government on 16 November 2023 stipulates that the rate of stamp duty payable on contract notes for sale or purchase of Hong Kong stock would be decreased from 0.13% to 0.1% of the consideration or value of each transaction, payable by buyers and sellers respectively. The new rate will come into effect on 17 November 2023.
